While trying to improve the graphics i thought it might be good to upgrade the scumvm contained in the game to the latest 2.1.2. It is quite easy on Mac (I assume is similar in Win/Linux) 0) quit Steam 1) locate the game downloaded by Steam (depends on your OS) and make a backup copy (just in case). 2) download the latest Scumm. 3) replace in the game directory all the component with the same. Back by popular demand, The Secret of Monkey Island™: Special Edition faithfully re-imagines the internationally-acclaimed classic game (originally released in 1990) for original and new audiences alike. Description of The Curse of Monkey Island Windows. The Curse of Monkey Island, a really nice adventure game sold in 1997 for Windows, is available and ready to be played again! Time to play a graphic adventure, comedy, sea pirates / caribbean.
The Curse of Monkey Island is an adventure game developed and published by LucasArts, and the third game in the Monkey Island series. It was released in 1997 and followed the successful games The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge. The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge are both 95% compatible, and can be played through without any problems. Curse of Monkey Island is up to 80% at the time of writing, and we expect compatability to get a lot better soon. The game is fully playable with just a few bugs though.

I thought I'd put together a little howto on how to make this game work in ScummVM:
I assume that you have at least 1100 megabytes of hard disk space free for your game files and for your savegames, and that you already have ScummVM installed.
1) Make a directory to put all your Monkey Island 3 game files in. Mine was /home/aamir/MonkeyIsland3
2) Insert the first CD and copy the 'resource' folder, the 'comi.la0' and the 'comi.la1' files from the CD to the Monkey Island directory you created.
3) Once it has finished copying, eject the first CD and insert the second CD. Copy from it the 'resource' folder, and the 'comi.la2' file to your Monkey Island directory, saying Yes if it asks you to overwrite any files in the 'resource' folder.
4) Eject your CD, and start up ScummVM.
5) Click the 'Add Game' button and navigate to the Monkey Island directory you made and click Choose.
6) Accept the settings and click OK, and just select Curse of Monkey Island in the games list and click start game.
7) Enjoy!
